A Pound of Flesh: Makeal Flammini

The Alice Wilds is excited to present a new visual experience by Wisconsin artist Makeal Flammini; opening to ticket holders on Friday, September 10th from 5-8PM, the artist will be in attendance.

For her first solo exhibition at The Alice Wilds, Makeal Flammini has created sixty objects for sixty viewers (ticket holders). Sixty ticket holders, and their guest(s), will have the opportunity to enter the exhibition and take one object from the artist’s new project, A Pound of Flesh.

Tickets are $200.00 each and available through The Alice Wilds; please contact tina@thealicewilds.com for more information and availability. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis and valid through October 23, 2021. If a ticket is purchased and the holder is not able to attend the opening their object will be chosen by the artist and set aside.

Makeal Flammini is an artist, illustrator, writer, and mother. She was the recipient of the 2018 Nohl Fellowship Award in the Emerging Artist category. In her Nohl application, Flammini described herself as “a mom who hasn’t slept in four years. In the moments she is able to steal for herself, she is a painter who dreams of being a writer.” Flammini was the co-host of the now defunct radio program The Wild Wild Midwest Variety Show, which aired on WMSE, and the co-creator of The Parachute Project, a roving arts group which held exhibitions in unused buildings throughout Milwaukee. She is a graduate of UW-Milwaukee and lives in the Milwaukee area with her husband, two small children, and a dog named Hippo-Diego.
